Although Cawston's Ostrich Farm (started 1886) raised birds to sell their feathers, they also had a tourist business partially promoted through streetcar lines that ran to the farm. When the tourist business got too big to breed ostriches at his South Pasadena site, Cawston moved his breeding farm to Perris, California. The title is confusing and might refer to the Perris breeding site, where groups of this size are shown on other postcards. This information is based on the South Pasadena location. The publisher's number on the back is 7911.
