[Curt Teich & Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois]
The building on the left is the 1905 Long Beach Municipal Auditorium (demolished 1932), with United States flags flying from its twin towers and a "Welcome" banner on its roof. In the center the initial platform of the Pleasure Pier is protected from motor traffic by bollards. People are gathering around and going in the entrance, walking down toward the ramponto the pier itself. At the Pacific Ocean end of the pier is the Sun Pavilion with its twin towers. A few people are on the beach next to the pier. Postmarks and cancellation stamps have marred the surface of the picture.
