Messrs Swift & Co.,
Kansas City, Mo.,

Gentlemen:-
I was out of the city yesterday. I find on my return, this morning, that we had had considerable annoyance and trouble with the First National Bank, which held your draft for the car of meat.

The car of meat arrived in splendid condition, better than any other car of meat we have received, but the oysters were short 25 boxes. The ribs were cut five inches too long, there being four lbs., of waste meat to the rib. There was also about five lbs., of waste meat to the loin, comparing with what we have been buying from Armour & Co.

Should we send you further orders, the meat must be cut a little shorter, and there must also be some arrangement made about buying. As I understand it, the car of meat was not to be delivered to us until the draft was paid. We do not wish to purchase from anyone unless the meat can be received, weighed and checked and inspected, and we can have a reasonable time in which to remit.
