F. G. Barry, Esq.,

Dear Sir: - I have your letter of the 10th inst. You can withdraw ad. for bellboys and waiters. Find we shall be able to get all that will be needed, on this coast, without payment of fares. It seems to be universally demanded that the fares be paid.

Have found a first-class baker who promises to be a good pastryman. he was with Lansing three years, and Lansing recommends him.

Invite Capt. King. Think you can secure transportation thro Mr Manvel, or Mr Byrne, if you will write either explaining who King is.

Am glad you do not want the balance due you for a short time. Should like it if you will allow the balance run until Dec. or Jan. I return the acceptance duly signed.

Your letter of the 9th. Rockwood is not yet here. The business has been unusually light this year, and will not improve much before Dec. Mail the balance of the New York list, giving me until Dec. to pay you what I owe you, if you can.

See that Simonson is kept supplied. Think the bills of fare we use are all right. Will have Mr Robinson send you one of our old bills, if he can find any. Have just noticed the postscript at the top of your letter, stating you are mailing 4400 books to New York, instead of 2000. Will have Mallett forward the Raymond & Whit comb letter.

Your letter of the 6th inst. I believe we are fixed for pastry cook. Shall probably take one of the cooks you have recommended. As mentioned above, have found baker. May use the same man for pastry cook, if he works up to it. If not, will bring one from the East. Also have come to conclusion about bathing suits. Find we must make the bed ticking suits ourselves.

When are you and your wife coming out? You promised to come in Oct. Have forgotten to ask in former letters.

You might let the ad. for waiters run another month - - rather for the present month - - as it will perhaps bring us direct correspondence. Can't work thru' employment agencies very well, as they always require fare paid in advance, as a rule, whereas a good many first-class waiters would pay their own fare.

We can accommodate dogs, but do not allow them in the rooms. Give them good accommodations down stairs.

Herewith copy of letter we are writing for Dr Morton, the resident physician, to doctors throughout the East.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.
