R. 'ONeil, Esq.,
Santa Margarita, Calif.,

Dear Sir:-
I notice the market for quail in San Francisco is very dull, from 75 cents per doz. upwards. If your hunter has not a market to satisfy him, and cares to shoot any quail for our hotel, and will send them down promptly the evening of the day the game is killed, I will take any number up to 300 or 400 dozen at 80 cents per dozen, delivered here. This will be free of all commission expense to him, and he can shoot as many as he sees proper, only advising us a little in advance, when they are coming
I hope the storm which now bids fair to come, brings the ducks in again. If it does, I want to come up and slaughter a few mallards
Am sorry I did not see you when you were down here. Try and arrange to spend the night next time you come. I want to show you through our lower regions.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock
