Dear Sir:-
I wish you would tell the Captain of the steamer 'Mexico' that we should like very much to have him come over and take dinner with us at the Hotel del Coronado, the next time his vessel is in port, so he can speak from personal observation as to the service of the dining room.
Some of the passengers who came down with him on the last trip expressed their surprise at the perfection of the service, and when asked to explain, stated they had understood from remarks dropped by the Captain that the service was very bad.
We do not claim to be perfect, and have nothing in the world against the Captain of the 'Mexico', except the objection that he does not come often enough to enable him to speak from personal experience as to the service of the hotel
If you say anything to the Captain, please do it in such a way that he will not take offence, as I am earnestly of correcting the wrong impression he seems to have. It may be that he does speak from personal experience in the past. If so, we wish to convince him the objection does not exist now.
