This is a linen postcard showing an aerial view of the mission on the right, with the seminary on the left behind it. The description on the back reads: "The Old Mission stands on a slight elevation overlooking the attractive city of Santa Barbara. It was founded in December 1786, and is one of the most impressive and best preserved missions in California." This narrative omits the fact that this particular building was the fourth mission structure built after the 1812 earthquake destroyed the third. The Teich number in the lower right gold border is 0B-H2649, from which the date was derived. The publisher's number SB-74 precedes the title at the top gold border.
