This birdseye view of the Inn provides a sense of its scope and setting. The Inn is the only set of buildings in focus, comprising a city block in downtown Riverside. Behind it one can see the San Gabriel Mountains to the north or northeast. In the foreground is the automobile entrance, with arches stretching in both directions from the portal. Automobiles are parked in front of the arches on the right. The Carmel Tower and St. Francis Chapel tower are visible on the left, and just to the right of center is the Carillon Tower. The brand of photographic paper used for the postcard back on which this silver-process image was developed was only manufactured from 1930 to 1950.
