After "coaching the line" and assisting Bert Clark at Principia College, Bush was in New York City when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He skipped a physical examination to join the Canadian Royal Air Force and instead enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on December 8, 1941. He is awaiting orders to leave the Parris Island Rifle Range of his address.
