Everyone in the Naval Air Service is assigned there for Pre-Flight Training, but he and Bob White are the only ones from San Diego State College. Brown expects around 30 others including Lincoln Rock who just checked in. His head of department had managed the San Diego Spaulding store as assistant athletic equipment officer. He mentions Bobby Grayson, Frankie Albert, and Francis Perry.
