Lee Passmore (1874-1958) was a well known San Diego photographer. His commercial work includes scenes of San Diego and the surrounding area. He may be best known however for his nature photographs, especially photographs of insects. Many of his nature photos are held at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

SDSU is fortunate to have a collection of Passmore's photographs, many taken for the California Pacific International Exposition held in Balboa Park beginning in 1935. Passmore photographed the early San Diego State College, classrooms, students and activities. The images were used as part of the College's display at the Exhibition.
