Lester I. Tenney, Ph.D. is a 1967 Master's in Business Administration graduate of San Diego State College and an insurance and finance professor emeritus at Arizona State University. Tenney is also widely known as an international advocate for survivors of the Bataan Death March during World War II. In 1940 he joined the National Guard and was eventually shipped with the 33rd Tank Company to the Philippines and ordered to surrender at Bataan. Having survived the Bataan Death March, he became the final commander of American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, as well as an author and founder of Care Packages from Home, an organization dedicated to the support of American troops fighting abroad. His talk is part of the Veterans and Students Success Lecture Series funded by a grant from the Aztec Parents Fund.

Dean of the University Library, Gale Etschmaier and Special Collections Librarian, Robert Ray deliver introductions. Ray's introduction includes a brief biography of Tenney. Etschmaier gives Tenney two gifts before he leaves, one a copy of his 1967 thesis tracing the title of San Diego State University lands to the Queen of Spain. The latter gift, a color rendition of the original title he discovered, she presents to his wife, Betty Tenney.
