McGehee III, Fielding M.
This transcript is an excerpt from a one-hour, 26-minute long sermon from the spring of 1973. The transcript here covers the 13-minute portion of the tape in this database. The full transcript, as well as the title and caption here, was prepared by Fielding M. McGehee III and appears on the Jonestown Institute's Web site, along with the full audio file and a summary by McGehee. In the recording, Jones reports that "when people meditate on me, or when I meditate upon them," miracles happen. He claims that, "your sun would go out if I ceased to exist." The address is punctuated throughout by music, shouts, and applause occurring in the intervals here labeled "(Pause.)" as well as elsewhere. The original tape was retrieved by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation as part of their inquiry into the assassination of Congressman Leo Ryan on November 18, 1978, and was originally reviewed by them in 1979.
