Ring describes herself as a housewife and mother. She went to the University of California, Berkeley for less than a year. She also went to school in Florence, Italy and several other sites, because her father was a Naval officer and her mother was widowed when she was 11. She married at about age 20 and became interested in government when her second husband was in War College. She heeded an injunction from United States House of Representatives member Katharine St. George to get politically involved. She got involved in the fight against construction of the Coronado Bridge at about age 52, then went to work for Congressman Bob Wilson. She also joined the Republican party and was active in it. She became a Republican National Committeewoman for California. Mrs. Ring died in 1995.
