Interviewer: Koester, Susan H.
Crooks was active in local politics in San Diego, California. She was involved with the National Women's Political Caucus and was a California delegate to the 1972 Democratic National Convention. In her oral history, she discusses feminism, abortion, how she got into politics, and her experience with the National Women's Political Caucus, the Chicano Caucus, and the Youth Caucus. Crooks dropped out of her course in elementary education to go into politics. She is mentioned in the oral history of Margaret Castro. She still feels guilty about supporting George McGovern instead of Shirley Chisholm, and she describes how delegates were selected (February 1972). This oral history was conducted for the San Diego State University Department of History and digitized by the California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP).
