Gardens in front of the Botanical Building during the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. The Exposition was held in San Diego's Balboa Park to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. La Laguna de las Flores is in the foreground. The balustrades of the footbridge that divides the lagunita (north pond) from the laguna (south pond) are visible on the left. Part of the roof of the Commerce and Industries Building is nearly centered, with the California Tower jutting above its leftmost portion. The Commerce and Industries Building was later known as the Canadian Building, used for the Museum of Natural History, was the Palace of Better Housing, and the Electric Building. After it burned down in 1978, it was reconstructed as the Casa de Balboa.
