This Venetian Renaissance building is in the same style as the rest of the "Venice of America" structures encouraged by tobacco-magnate Abbot Kinney when he developed his piece of the Santa Monica marsh into what he hoped would become a cultural capital. Strung across the street with its origin on the bank is the word "Venice." The First National Bank of Venice went bankrupt during the Great Depression in 1932, but the building was reoccupied as the Bank of Venice Public House. This card has an undivided back, on which there is a drawing advertising the Balloon Route Excursion trolley ride from Los Angeles.
