In this warm black-and-white lithograph, a Japanese gate (torii) is the portal to the Japan Beautiful exhibit from the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland, previously at the St. Louis Fair, and the Chicago World's Fair. Abbot Kinney brought promoter Yamato Kushibiki's work in 1906 to place along a shore of the Grand Lagoon built to resemble an exposition. It was replaced by bowling alleys in 1907. Both the publisher's and contributor's logos are on the divided back of this card.
