Redlands, California Casa Loma Hotel

This image is almost exactly the same (except for coloring) as an 1896 black-and-white photograph in the California Historical Society Collection at the University of Southern California Libraries. They identify the street and sidewalk on the left as Orange Avenue, with Colton Avenue in front of the hotel, built in 1896. They question whether one of the towers is a solarium but affirm that this three-story building has a double portico (center). They also identify "the corner room on the second floor" as the "President Suite" because three United States presidents stayed there. The publisher's number 4298 is in the bottom left corner of the margin. A wide margin has been left for messages, since a warning close to the dividing line states that a return address only may be written on the address side.
