Calico Fred, marshall of Calico ghost town east of Barstow
"Calico Fred" Noller was left in charge of the ghost town of Calico by owner Walter Knott, who then lived in Buena Park where his "Knott's Berry Farm" was flourishing. The ghost town is listed on the back as being "off U. S. Hwy. 91," which at the time ran the route later rebuilt as Interstate 15 (by 1974). Here Noller sits in his western clothes and hat, with a beard, long hair, and tatoos, handling his "six-shooter" gun. In 1966 Knott gave the restored town to the County of San Bernardino, which operates it as a county regional park. Two numbers are on the divided back, one with the publisher's name and address (H-2380), and the other (23810) at the bottom of the dividing line.
