This early color card shows castle-like buildings with towers, surrounded by trees and set against a background of mountains. This was the Southern California State Asylum for the Insane and Inebriates, later known as Patton State Hospital, opened in 1893, a psychiatric hospital in the Kirkride tradition. The unincorporated community of Patton eventually became part of San Bernardino. The publisher's number 3730 is on a back that is divided only to allow a return address on the left. The message "Made in Germany" has been rubber-stamped in red at an angle on the back.
