A sentence on the back promotes the hotel: "One of the best hotels in the country, a famous summer and winter resort that combines the pleasures of the mountain with those of the ocean." The Santa Ynez Mountains show behind the hotel with its array of carriages and automobiles lined up in front. Across Cabrillo Boulevard in the foreground are two of a stand of fan palms that continued to be deployed between the Pacific Ocean beach and the road. Named after its owner Milo Potter, the hotel opened in 1903 and was destroyed by fire in 1921 under different ownership as the Ambassador Hotel. The entrance was on the site of Ambassador Park. The publisher's number 4507 and the phrase "Made in Germany" appear on the divided back, along with a number upside down in the stampbox, 57858.
