Miramar, near Santa Barbara, California
The paragraph on the back claims: "This beautiful and unusual tourist resort consists of a number of small and picturesque bungalows grouped around a large bungalow. It is close to the beach and is one of the most delightful resorts in California." The Miramar by the Sea hotel and resort started as a private residence on 20 acres of ocean front property in Montecito, an area eventually annexed by Santa Barbara. The owners, Josiah and Emmeline Doulton, built one guest cottage that expanded to 29 by 1910. A series of sales starting in 1939 brought the property into the hands of developers who demolished the original structures and planned to open a new complex in 2017. The motto "On the road of a thousand wonders" ends the description, possibly indicating participation in a railroad promotion. The publisher's number 5281 appears on the divided back, along with "Made in Germany." Another number is upside down in the stampbox, 878.
