Saint Anthony's College, Santa Barbara, California
Saint Anthony's College is behind the Mission Santa Barbara. This view is of a three-story stone building with a tower and false front, arched doorways and windows on the first floor, and dormer windows on the third. The "college," later "seminary," was founded in 1896 as a secondary school. This building was designed by Brother Adrian Wewer for Mission Hill, completed in 1900. By 1922 the area around the building had altered significantly. The number 354 is hand-printed in the lower right corner of this sepia-tone card. The rose-on-top-of-dagger dividing line on the back is characteristic of Edward Mitchell, who bought the California Sales Company in 1911.
