Lobby, Santa Maria Inn, Santa Maria, California
This black-and-white card with a white border shows almost exactly the same view as that in PC-002-419. Six chairs are lined up in front of a fireplace under lights hanging from a coffered ceiling. The message on the divided back of this card is mostly taken up by an advertisement for the John M. Williams Piano School, giving notice that Williams and "Mr. Shayler-Turner" will "resume their classes in pianoforte on Monday, September 3rd." Parents and pupils are invited to go to the Al Azhar Temple on Saturday the 1st for a discussion of the classes. At the top of the message panel the hotel is described as "The Halfway House" because it is "midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles." In the right corner of the image is the number 5035, probably belonging to the publisher, who began operations in 1908.
