This California Mission style hotel designed by Arthur Benton stretches across this sepia-tone card from the entrance in the middle, taking up the block bounded by Victoria, State, Sola and Chapala Streets. There is a lawn with palm trees and an intersection on the right. The first, wooden, hotel burned in 1909, and the tower seen in this structure was destroyed in the 1925 earthquake when the water tank at the top fell through the floors below. The Arlington Theater was built on the site after the hotel was razed in 1931. This card has the E. H. Mitchell rose-topped dagger staff as the dividing line on the back, where the message "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" suggests that the card was part of a railroad promotion.
