The description on the back reads: "On the Beach, Santa Barbara, California. Noted for its Balmy climate, the mecca of all who would escape the chill of winter. 350 das of sunshine. Bathing all the year." "Mecca" is a metaphor for an obligatory visit such as the popularly known religious pilgrimage to Mecca. "Bathing" was the word for swimming in the ocean, in this case the Pacific. The beach in the foreground leads west to a rocky point with trees on it, the cape later called Santa Barbara Point. The Teich number at the top of the dividing line on the back is R-76940, from which the date was derived.
