In this image, a drive leads to the entrance on the right of a large grayish building five to 6-1/2 stories. Flowers and shrubs surround the roadway. The Potter, as it was known, opened in 1903 as a year-round hotel, rather than seasonal. It was sold in 1919, becoming the Belvedere, then sold once again to become the Ambassador. In 1921 the hotel burned to the ground and was not rebuilt. The Ambassador Park on West Cabrillo Boulevard stands where the entrance once was. The publisher's number in front of the title in the bottom left corner of the white border is 13205, indicating a date of 1909-1910. On the divided back of the card is the trademark Phostint, which the publisher began to use in 1907.
