The Riviera neighborhood was once known as the mission ridge. Close to Mission Santa Barbara, it is called "Riviera" after the Mediterranean site. From the ridge in the foreground, the viewer looks down onto a road and descending inhabited areas from it to the coast and the Pacific Ocean, with headlands on the right. The Teich number in the lower right corner is 117437, from which the date was derived. The publisher's number is SB-108 in front of the title in the top white border, and the notation "Photo by Ricks" appears in the bottom left border.
