One of the two bell towers of the Mission Santa Barbara stands at the end of a walkway in this Real Photo Post Card. The mission, built in the American Colonial style, opened in 1820 and is the icon of Santa Barbara. The mission itself was established in 1786, with this building as the fourth structure, the third destroyed by an earthquake in 1812. Frasher's photographic postcards usually carried numbers as well as their logo, in this case both on the right in the bottom margin, F4738.
