The card shows the vaulted ceiling, fireplace and arched windows with stained glass in the banquet room. More information is printed on the divided back of the postcard:
"The fireplace of the Cloister Banquet Room is symbolic of Spanish hospitality. The images of St. Francis and Father Serra with his staff in hand, and good King Louis (San Luis Rey) are reminders of the effective and noble work done by the Franciscan fathers in California."

Perforations on the top edge indicate that it was torn from a booklet. The publisher's logo is on the divided back of this German-made card.
