The bathing pavilion, also known as the Redondo Beach Plunge, is lit for operation at night. This saltwater plunge was built in 1909 in conjunction with a Pacific Light and Power steam plant constructed to generate power for the streetcars, and it furnished heat for three swimming pools inside. The publisher's number on the divided back is F 408. The slogan "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" on the back may indicate participation in a promotion of routes of the Southern Pacific Railroad or the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific together.
