Ostrich farm, Pasadena, California
Cawston's Ostrich Farm was actually in what is now the City of South Pasadena. They raised birds to sell their feathers, they also had a tourist business partially promoted through streetcar lines that ran to the farm. Ostriches pulled carts and carriages, and there were tours, clothing, and souvenirs for sale. The publisher started in business in 1908, and United States publishers stopped making cards in Germany around 1915, limiting the production dates of this card. The publisher's polar-bear logo is on the divided back along with this card number, 854.
