View of $100,000 Pleasure Pier, Long Beach, California
The VanOrnum Colorprint Co., Los Angeles, California
The Pleasure Pier with the Sun Pavilion at its Pacific Ocean end juts out from the beach, captured probably from an upper window at the Hotel Virginia (red roof immediately in right corner) across The Pike (amusement zone) of Long Beach. On the far left is part of the white facade of the bathhouse with a portion of pillar showing, just to the left of the beginning of the pier. On the right of the pier is the beach, with surf and people in the ocean. The structures shown here had all been built by 1911. On the divided back is an advertisement for "Tilton's Trolley Trip," serving Long Beach, running from around 1908 to 1912.
