"The Pike" was Long Beach's amusement zone stretching along the beach toward town. On the left at the horizon is the nearby Hotel Virginia. The white building with the pillars is the bathhouse. Although only one contributor is named, the publisher, there are two numbers on the back of the card: 11711 and L. 512. The slogan "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" on the back may indicate that this place or card was part of a promotion for the Coast Line-Shasta Route of the Southern Pacific from Los Angeles through San Francisco, to Portland.
