At the bottom of In-Ko-Pah Gorge on Highway U.S. 80, Imperial Valley, California
Photographic paper: EKC
United States Highway 80 was the first paved highway through the Yuha Desert and surrounding Imperial Valley and eastern San Diego County. It was supplanted by Interstate 8, in this area routed through two separate canyons. From the west, the passage through the Cuyamaca Mountains reaches the Imperial Valley at the bottom of this gorge. This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) made with EKC photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this unsent card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snap shot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. This EKC photo paper was made from 1930-1950.
