The split images on this Real Photo Post Card relate to cotton production in the Imperial Valley. The card was created by a process in which any photographer could take a "snapshot," deliver the negative to a photo developer and have it printed on a postcard backing. The special papers used for this process are indexed by brand and date, and the Azo papers used for this photograph were issued from 1917-1930, according to the symbols bordering the stampbox on the back (top corner triangles up, bottom corner triangles down, with "Azo" in at the top, bottom, and sides).
