Messrs Swift & Co.
Kansas City, Mo.,

Gentlemen:-
I beg to hand you , herewith, letter from the railroad agent, at this place.

As he delivered us the car, before delivery of bill of lading, through error, we felt that we should protect him, and gave him a check for $17.16; but we feel, and keenly, too, if , made to stand the loss of the oysters and the protest fees. Your message to the bank, to hold draft another day before protesting had no effect.

The oysters per invoice did not reach us, and the protest fees are not a proper charge against us.

We leave the matter in your hands.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.
