F. G. Barry, Esq.

Dear Sir: Your idea about using the roofing at Richfield Springs is good. Also roofing at similar places in the East. Hope you will follow it up. Don't think the plan would amount too much in Chicago, however.

There seems to be several first-class pastry cooks developing through your correspondence. Do you think that Kellner, Malby's head was tryman, is better than the others? If he makes a business of furnishing men, doesn't he get something out of it, and can he be relied on entirely?

Will have a man drop in and see German about the order.

Mr. Zander left on the 15th. Too much family and not enough work. Am going to run the hotel myself.

Hope Mrs Wilcox will know about bathing suits. Am anxious to get the best.

Tell Mr Tompkins I am more than pleased to learn that he is going to paint Whitter.

I want you to use in any way possible, the following information. C. H. Warren, Comptroller Great Northern Line, St Paul, Minn., wired me on the 21st inst., to telegraph him the highest and lowest daily temperature at the hotel for the preceding ten days. I went to our self registering thermometer in the court and took from it the following figures: Saturday, the 12th, highest 74, lowest 66; 13th, 74 highest, 67 lowest; 14th, highest 76, lowest 66; 15th, 74 highest, 64 lowest; 16th, highest 70, lowest 61; 17th, highest 70, lowest 62; 18th, highest 70, lowest 65; 19th, highest 73, lowest 63. I do not believe the above figures can be equaled by any other Continental point. To be frank, they are a little better than the average, and the eveness astonished me.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.

I wish you would insert where you think it would do the most good and making for bellboys and waiters during the coming Winter. Permanent positions to those who suit. Want about 8 or 10 good bellboys and from 20 to 30 good waiters. from the East, to commense coming in Nov., and all to be here by Feb. 1st.
