My dear Mr. Horton:-
I want to be brought in direct communication with one of the manufacturers of general rubber goods. I am thinking of putting rubber on our verandahs on our court for the purpose of deadening sound and taking the place of the cocoa matting. I also want rubber mats for use in our kitchen and around our dish warmers, where we break so many dishes. My idea is to have this rubber made in sheets a yard wide in as long lengths as possible and about one-quarter of an inch think, perfectly plain and simple. If one-quarter of an inch thick is not heavy enough to make it lasting in its wear, I want it thicker. As you know, if we order all we can use in these places, the bill will be very large, and I want to save all intermediate commissions or expense between the manufacturers and ourselves, if possible. Yours of the 26th is received. The custard cup you sent us will not do. We send you by express the kind of cup we want and the size. It is about an after-dinner coffee cup, but it suits our wants better than the one you sent us.
