J. D. Spreckels, Esq.,
San Francisco, Calif.,

Dear Sir:-
I enclose you herewith memorandum of the house count for Dec. 1889 and Dec. 1890 comparatively. Please notice that Dec. 1890 shows an average increase of forty-two boarders per day.
The rates have been increased this year, over those of last year, but the expense for table has also been materially increased, we having a much better table than has, at any previous time, been set, since the opening. I hope, however, to send you a good report for December, as soon as the accounts are made up.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock Jr.
