San Francisco.
Dear Sir,
I enclose you a letter dated May 3rd which was dictated before I went to the country, but owing to its having been misunderstood by the stenographer, was not forwarded earlier.
I now find your favor of the 6th and hope that you will succeed in making the loan from the Germans Savings Bank. You speak of a loan of $80.000 offered me it was $17.000 as I wrote you.
I wish you would give me particulars about every complaint about the cooking and service of the Hotel, so that I can locate them; we changed chefs on the 1st, and now have a man that was second under Compagnon, and he ran the kitchen while Compagnon was away for some three months. The cooking now cannot be criticised, and the service is all that can be desired.
Mr Whitcombe of Raymond & Whitcombe, told me this morning that he was very agreeable surprised with both cooking and service, that it was first class, and that their party now here numbering 175 are more than pleased. I will send you weekly
